Proposed PST on insurance policies in 2017 Budget
IFB is reaching out to our Members in Saskatchewan to raise awareness of the downside of the Budget proposal to add 6% PST to most insurance products. Especially concerning is that the PST will be a new tax on individual life, health and disability insurance premiums.
IFB has written to Saskatchewan’s Minister of Finance . You can help by contacting your MLA here. If you wish, you can use the template letter below, or adapt it to draft your own letter.

It’s important that the government understands the potentially negative side effects that this tax could have on the ability of individuals and families to responsibly plan for their financial well-being.

We’ve been asked by Wiegers Financial and Benefits, a Saskatoon-based financial planning and group benefits consulting firm, to support its online petition: Stop the Tax on Insurance Premiums Before it Starts. We are pleased to do so, and invite IFB members to sign on to this initiative in addition to writing to your MLA.
