Independent Financial Brokers of Canada (IFB) respects and is committed to protecting the privacy of its members. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect that personally identifies individuals, and how we use this information.
To fulfill our objectives and mandate as an association, IFB collects and stores only that personal information which is relevant to an individual’s membership in the association, including, among other things: participation at IFB educational events, meetings, service (if any) on the IFB Board of Directors, committees, and participation (if any) in the IFB sponsored Errors & Omissions plan.

As a general rule, all membership information is held in strict confidence and, except in limited circumstances, is not revealed to anyone unless expressly or implicitly authorized by the member. IFB does provide membership information on a limited basis to some Supplier Partners when:
IFB also collects information about participants through registration forms for our programs, including Continuing Education. It does so to fulfill its objectives and mandate. In providing these programs, the IFB is supported by Supplier Partners, Sponsors and Exhibitors, to whom a member’s name, address, and/or email address may be made available, provided the participant provided consent during the registration process.
IFB will retain personal information provided to it only for so long as it is required for the purposes stated above. IFB endeavours to maintain the accuracy of any information about members in its possession. Information about a former members is not actively maintained and, while it is held by IFB, IFB cannot assure the accuracy of such information.
IFB strives to maintain adequate physical, procedural and technical security with respect to our offices and information storage facilities so as to prevent any unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification of a member’s personal information. Credit card information is used only for credit card processing purposes.
The IFB web server does not collect visitor information in the form of the visitor’s domain or Internet Protocol (IP) address, but does collect information regarding which pages are accessed. This information is used internally, only in aggregate form, to manage our website, and improve content.
IFB members, unless otherwise indicated, consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information as set out in this Statement. If a member does not consent, then his/her personal information shall be used by IFB for purposes of communicating with the member only and shall not be provided to anyone else (e.g. Supplier Partners).
